The credit crunch of today has put many people into a position that some are not used to. High level executives are starting to search for debt programs to assist them and their families find the light at the end of the debt tunnel. There are many programs available but only two main types of them are commonly used. These types are called debt relief and debt elimination. Knowing which one you want to get into really depends on what your situation is.
Debt Relief Programs
This program is actually the one that most can qualify for. This is where the customer who is looking into debt programs contacts a debt relief company. After disclosing their situation to the debt relief company, they take over. The relief company contacts the creditors and explains the situation of the customer. Then they come to an agreement to make it possible for the customer to settle the debt. The debt relief company works with the customer to settle one debt at time. Usually for less than what is actually owed.
Debt Elimination Programs
Programs that are designed to eliminate debt are great for those who have no means to pay back loans or lines of credit. These programs work similar to the debt relief programs. Many individuals consider bankruptcy or credit counseling to help them through this situation. Sure these two things are available but they hurt you more than help. Debt programs that are designed to eliminate debt will do just that. They don’t just give the customer relief; they help the customer become debt free and stay that way.
Debt programs come from many different sources. You can get government sponsored programs or debt programs offered by some non-profit organizations. What ever you choose, always make sure they have free consultation. This is a must because if you can’t afford to pay back your creditors how can you pay extra fees to get into some debt program.
